High Cal decreases cell permeability and reduces nerve irritability. Calcium is also necessary for osmoregulation, muscle contractions, blood coagulation. During gestation and lactation a mare's requirement for calcium rises significantly. A deficiency can cause skeletal problems in the mare and/or foal. A deficiency of calcium can cause vision impairment from cataract formation and widespread hemorrhage. It can also cause severely impaired bone growth. High Cal can be used when a high grain ration or low calcium hay is fed or during gestation and lactation. Ingredients: Oyster shell flour, Dehydrated alfalfa, Ground corn, Magnesium oxide, Bran, Thiamine, Riboflavin, Niacin, Pyrodoxine hydrochloride, Vitamin B12 supplement, Folic acid, Biotin.
