FLAX IS GOOD NUTRITION!
Flax is a grain. An abundance of natural nutrients are contained
in whole flax seed. It is a source of complex protein that includes
all 8 essential amino acids, high fiber, linolenic acid, complex carbohydrates,
vitamins and minerals all in one package. Linolenic acid is an essential
polyunsaturated Omega-3 fatty acid.
Protein is the main source of building material for muscles, blood, skia
hair, nails and internal organs including the heart and the brain.
The soothing fiber in flax seed promotes regularity and helps sweep
toxins out of the digestive tract so they aren't reabsorbed.
The essential polyunsaturates, both of which are found in flax seed, are
excellent sources of energy.
Essential polyunsaturates are also a major part of all cellular
membranes..the "skin" which regulates the flow of material into and out of
cells. They are also required for the transport and oxidation of cholesterol, and for the
production and formation of prostaglandins.
Prostaglandins are hormone-like substances that direct activities in every cell in the
body. They tell the cell when to divide or not to divide; when to take in nutrients; when
to expel waste products; when to lay down bone or absorb bone; when to wake up or to
sleep; when to feel pain; when to form a clot, etc. Without prostaglandins, the
cells in bodies would be a disorganized, non-functional mess.
For many years flax seed has been studied and considered unique as an anti-cancer food due
to its large content of lignan fiber and linolenic acid. Flax seed also contains more
total fiber than other grains and therefore has a larger production of three short-chain
fatty acids from bacterial fermentation of soluble fiber. Linolenic acid..an Omega-3 fatty
acid found in flax seed...has been known to have an inhibiting effect on different cancers
in humans as well as animals. Flax seed must be ground to break the hull or it will pass
through the digestive tract and also stabilized with the proper vitamins and minerals.
(Check with us for information on using flax for human use. All the properties and
benefits are the same as for animals.)
