I thought that I would let you know about my horse, LS Zane Grey.
In November 1992, I purchased Zane, a purebred Arabian stallion, at
the Roseville Livestock Auction for $1,050. At that time, he was a
wild horse of 5 1/2 years and had basically never been handled.
Over the next year, I worked with Zane and turned him into a basic
trail horse. In December 1993, I was riding Zane in the snow when
he went lame. In early January 1994, I took Zane to Dr. Wally Liberman
in Redding as he was still lame. Dr. Liberman took an x-ray of Zane's
foot and determined that he had fractured his coffin bone.
Dr. Liberman's therapeutic prescription was special shoeing, rest,
the use of Equiflax or Equizyme for better hoof and sole structure,
as well as Cosequin for the bone/joint regeneration.
Being familiar with these products (I already used Equiflax for my
23 year old gelding), I put Zane on Equiflax.
In June 1994, I was back riding Zane and he was as sound as ever,
but still had thin soles and poor hoof walls. For the remainder of
1994, I used Zane for Ride & Tie's but continued to have shoe/hoof
related problems.
In 1995, I started using Zane for Endurance riding. All throughout
the year, Zane's performance continued to improve. I started getting
compliments on how lustrous his coat looked and he started having
fewer shoe/hoof problems. In 1996, Zane continued to perform better
and better with even fewer hoof/shoe problems during his endurance
rides.
This past year (1997), my
wife Kathy started riding Zane in endurance. I can only tell you
that they have been phenomenal! From a horse that Dr. Liberman gave
a very poor prognosis to a horse that is now the AERC's top points
holder in the nation and the IAHA National Purebred Arabian Endurance
Grand Champion!
Throughout this time, Equiflax is the only supplement that Zane
has been on continuously. It has taken time, but even Zane's hooves
have improved so much that in his last 14 rides (over 900 miles),
he has not lost one shoe.
I now have 12 other horses - all receive Equiflax daily. Again,
it takes 6-12 months, but horses that come to me with poor hooves
and listless coats always improve!
Thank you for your product - I recommend it to any horseperson when
they see one of your empty buckets that I use for water at rides.
Sincerely,
Eric Thompson
